What
is "Low E" glass?: Low-E
(low emissivity) glass has an invisible, metallic coating that
allows the full spectrum of sunlight to enter but blocks radiant
heat from escaping.
What are
the summer benefits of "Low E" glass?:
During the summer months, 25% of unwanted heat is reflected back
outside. Low E windows also block ultraviolet light, which fade
fabrics and other materials.
What are
the winter benefits of "Low E" glass?:
During the winter months, as much as 75% of heat normally
escaping is reflected back into the home for energy savings. The
Low E coating also increases the inside surface temperature on
windows , making the area near the window more comfortable.
Does
Louisiana Home Improvement Co. sell windows with "Low
E" glass?: Low E
glass is standard with our Hawthorneô windows, and is
available as an option on our Windgateô and Belmontô
windows. Low E glass is available on new construction as well as
replacement windows.
Are
there any disadvantages of "Low E" glass?: Low E
glass windows are more expensive, however Low E windows are very
cost effective, providing energy cost savings throughout the
life of the windows.
Are
there any visible differences in "Low E" glass?:
Low E coating is virtually invisible from the inside, but give
windows a semi-mirror appearance from the outside.
